In April of 2014, I got a call from Lead Planter Bobby Wood about joining him in South Ogden, Utah to help out with a brand new church plant. To Bobby’s surprise, God was already working in the life of our family and had begun the process of getting our hearts ready for a move to an unreached area. When Bobby called, I simply said, “Well Bobby, it’s a funny thing, I’ve actually kind of been waiting for you to call about this!”
We took some time to pray and think through the challenge that had been set before us. We soon realized that, indeed, this was God’s will and that it was to be the next step in our ministry journey. We knew it would not be easy. We would be moving across the country right after having a baby. We would be moving far away from all of our family. We would be leaving a beautiful congregation of God’s people that we had served with and alongside for the previous 8 years. But we knew that when God calls, we must go. And we were confident that God was calling.
As Associate Pastor, my main duty will be planning and leading out in the Worship and Arts Ministry. I will also take on a large portion of the pastoral load and help to coordinate Redemption Church’s Community Group’s.
We hope that you will join us on this new leg of our journey! You can get involved in a variety of ways!
1. You can PRAY!
– Please pray for our family in this time of transition. As stated above, we will be in a brand new place with a totally different culture and community context. We will be far away from any family. Please pray for Janna, our newborn Sawyer, and myself, that we would adjust well to the newness of it all.
– Please pray for God to provide. Because Redemption Church is a church plant, we will be almost completely self-funded. We are relying on God to use partnering churches, friends, family, and even strangers to provide for our needs! (See #2 below if you’d like to be an answer to this prayer).
– Please pray for many opportunities to build relationships with those who are lost, and ultimately, to have a chance to share the Gospel with them. This area of the country is a very tough place, spiritually speaking, with the vast majority of people having no knowledge of who Jesus Christ truly is. The Evangelical population in the Salt Lake area is a mere 2.8 percent. But where the Gospel is present, there is hope.
2. You can GIVE!
Please consider giving financially to help support our family. As stated above, because Redemption Church is a brand new fellowship, there are few funds to support church staff. Your one-time or monthly gift, no matter the amount, will go a long way in allowing us to spread the Gospel in South Ogden and beyond. If you’d like to commit your financial support, please fill out the form below.

3. You can GO!
We love to host families and church groups who want to help us impact our community for the Gospel. That may look like a Sunday School class or Community Group coming on Spring Break to help with campus ministry at Weber State University. It might look like a Youth Group traveling to South Ogden during the summer to help host evangelistic block parties and assist with outreach. Or maybe, just maybe, it means picking up and moving across the country and planting yourself in South Ogden in order to be salt and light in a dark community. You never know! It may sound crazy, but I’ve seen God do it before!
We thank you so much for your prayerful consideration in this matter. No matter how you get involved, whether through praying, giving, or going, we thank you for your support of our family and your concern for the lost in South Ogden, Utah. If you have any questions or concerns about Redemption Church or anything else, please feel free to send an email to email@example.com.
